Pets Are Inn is a unique alternative for your pet boarding needs! We are not a kennel; we place your pets in private homes!
We carefully screen animal loving individuals and families to care for your pet. These "Host Families" take your 4-legged companion into their home and give them the personal attention they are used to ... lots of love, petting, playing, walking, a warm comfortable place to sleep, and of course, the food you choose!
Difference from Rover.com or DogVacay...
While DogVacay and Rover offer what might seem like a similar service, Pets Are Inn has been around since 1982 and knows what to do to make sure your dog is always in a safe environment. While websites will let you find a host and inspect them yourself, once you leave your dog with someone, it is entirely up to that person! They have almost no support system in place in case of emergency or plans changing. Since we have been around for so long, we know exactly what to look for when screening host families and we know who is the best to take care of your particular pets - that is what the phone interview is for!
How It Works...
If you are a current client, new reservations can be made via your franchise's website or on the phone. If you are new to Pets Are Inn, we will spend about 20 minutes with you gathering all of the necessary information about your pet and the needs you have for their stay with our host family. We want to know as much as we can about their activity needs, habits and behavior…all those things that make your pet unique!
Transportation Provided...
We provide round trip transportation for pick-up and delivery of your pet. We come to your home in our vans (recognized by many of our pets!) and take the pet to the host family and return them the same way.

In comparison to DogVacay and Rover, we stay in touch with the host while you are away and always check their homes for safety. If there is an emergency, we can take the dog to the vet, find an alternate host, and contact you or your emergency contact immediately! This strong support system, which has been built from decades of experience with pet care, is what makes us the safest alternative to kennels!
How It Works...

If you are new to Pets Are Inn, we will spend about 20 minutes with you gathering all of the necessary information about your pet and the needs you have for their stay with our host family. We want to know as much as we can about their activity needs, habits and behavior…all those things that make your pet unique!
Based on this information (we call it the ‘pet profile’), we then carefully match your pet’s individual needs with the appropriate host family. The host will get a detailed profile. You are welcome to share additional information about your pet in a personal note so they will know just what their special guest needs!

What If...
What If...
Pets Are Inn has taken steps to make your pet’s stay a healthy and happy one. However, there is always the chance that your pet could become ill.
If medical attention is required, we will contact your veterinarian. If circumstances require more immediate action, we will contact the veterinarian closest to your host family. We have established affiliations with highly qualified veterinarians throughout the area, ensuring access to medical treatment 24 hours a day.
Our Host Families...
Each host family is thoroughly screened interviewed by Pets Are Inn. We look for attitudes towards pets and the amount of time they have to spend with your pet. Their home and yard are also inspected for cleanliness and safety.
Daily Boarding Rates...
- Daily rates are based on the size and age of your dog (please contact your local office for these rates) and a flat rate for cats.
- Pick up times in the AM are charged a full day’s rate; PM pick ups are charged a ½-day rate.
- Return times in the PM are charged a full day’s rate; AM return times are charged a ½-day rate.
- There is an additional fee for puppies (up to 18 months) and for special needs (geriatric care, insulin shots, etc.).
- Our fees are competitively priced when comparing the level of service you and your pet receive from Pets Are Inn!
Shot Requirements...
Written Instructions for medications are a must. Pets Are Inn requires current vaccinations (DHPL, PARVO, RABIES) for both cats and dogs. Please have your pet’s shots updated and have a vet’s certification handy when we pick up the pet. We will verify due dates with your vet. If your pet has allergic reactions to vaccinations (other than rabies) we honor the titers test results.
Our Host Families...Each host family is thoroughly screened interviewed by Pets Are Inn. We look for attitudes towards pets and the amount of time they have to spend with your pet. Their home and yard are also inspected for cleanliness and safety.
We have a wide variety of host families….families with kids and pets, families with no kids or pets; those who work at home or stay at home; single folks and retirees! The one thing they all share is their love of pets and the companionship they provide.
What to Send...
We want the pet's stay to be as routine for them as possible and ask that the owner supply an adequate amount of food (and treats, if allowed) for the pet’s stay. Our host will carefully follow your feeding instructions and respect your wishes regarding table food.
We ask that you send bowls, toys, bedding (sorry, your bed will not fit in our van!), a leash that is in good condition, and walking collar (if used). Grooming tools are also welcome. For cats, in addition to the above, litter, pan and scoop. If your cat has claws, we strongly recommend that you send a scratching post or mat.
